Sampling

After reviewing my designs I decided to experiment with a different colour pallet and different scale. My colours have been heavily inspired by the artist Leon Bakst, who painted illustrations for the Ballet Russes, I came across his work through researching Paris and the late 1920's. To add diversity to my designs I changed the scale of the lace.

Final project research continued

During the sampling stage of the project I could see my designs taking a vintage direction with the chosen colour pallet that I was using combined with the style of lace and cast iron being very delicate. Hand mixed dyes; manutex printing dyes and discharge print have been used to create this sample, inspired by the mood board that I had put together.

Mood boards

Here are a couple of mood boards I put together during the first stages of the project with a combination of my own photographs, art work and images that inspirational images that I had collected.

Trip to Paris

A lot of my inspiration for my final project has come from a trip to Paris that I went on in February this year. I was so inspired by the city and the beautiful cast iron design that can be seen all over, especially on the Metro and within the architecture, extravagant but yet sophisticated.   Here are a few photographs I had taken during my time there.
